Welcome to The Monthly Spectacle, our Parkhurst & Co newsletter. This is where we’ll be sharing lifestyle features, optical insights, and updates on what our team has been up to across our practices.
Making the Most of New Year Resolutions
The New Year is a time for fresh starts — and, of course, new resolutions. We thought it would be a good opportunity to share a few from our own team (and keep them accountable along the way!).
Luke, our trainee dispensing optician, has set his sights on passing his optical exams — the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. As if that wasn’t challenge enough, Luke is also planning to take on the Three Peaks Challenge in 2026.
Meanwhile, Alex has decided to lace up her running shoes and aims to complete her first race by the end of the year… early ParkRun starts permitting!

Tokai Lenses and Healthy Vision
One often overlooked way to support long-term eye health is through your spectacle lenses.
At Parkhurst & Co, we work closely with Tokai UK to offer bespoke lens designs that support both vision and comfort. Our team often talks about the importance of UV protection — but this protection isn’t limited to sunglasses alone.
Tokai’s Lutina lens technology offers a high level of protection against UV and high-energy violet (HEV) light, even in clear lenses. Lutina lenses absorb harmful light up to 420nm, helping to reduce oxidative stress at the back of the eye — where important nutrients and pigments contribute to healthy vision.
This technology can also be combined with photochromic lenses, which darken in sunlight and return to clear indoors, offering comfortable vision in a wide range of lighting conditions.
It’s a proactive approach to eye protection, built into the lenses you wear every day.
A Very Special Introduction
We also have some lovely family news to share.
We’re delighted to introduce Fergus, the newest member of the Parkhurst family. Last month, Lydia (Ian’s daughter) and her husband James welcomed Fergus into the world, weighing in at 8 lbs 13 oz.
We’re pleased to report that Lydia, James, and baby Fergus are all doing well and settling in at home, surrounded by love from the wider Parkhurst family.

And That’s a Wrap…
That brings us to the first edition of The Monthly Spectacle for 2026.
We hope you and your loved ones had a very Merry Christmas and wish you a happy and healthy New Year ahead.
